I have already been to many places like Italy, France, Portugal, Poland or Spain where St. Mary had shown and are famous from miracles. I usually use planes, then I get to the closes city, choose the route and I walk. Even if it’s not far, it’s simply symbolic for me that I put an effort. One of the best things is that because of the difficulties on the road I fell kind of Nirvana. When I reach my destination I feel free. Like newborn person. I have time to think, contemplate, pray, just be silent for a while. And walk, walk, walk…
I started my pilgrimages when I was a kid. Usually they were one or two days, once I went for the whole week. Nowadays I’m proud husband and father of two lovely kids and we travel together. But sometimes, during the school year, when my wife also works, I go alone, because I can work ,,from home’’. It gives me oppportunity to be more elastic and travel around the world, at least for 1-2 weeks without any problems. I hope by showing my family religious places they will be better Christians. And better people. I know that travelling broadens mind and I try to show them and also discover myself places worth visiting in the country we are. And I don’t mean religious, but simply interesting, museums, exhibitions, folk shows… I hope I will some advice for you which will be useful.
