Lourdes, France- journey to the famous blessed Mary statue

Lourdes- a journey inside your soul

Loudres basilique
Our journey to Lourdes, France was an amazing experience.

As I promised, I will provide some crucial information about public transport and private ones as well froch each journey. This time, I used private company Discover Lourdes which not only took us the most famous healing shrine in the world, but also everywhere we desired. Additionally, the driver was very friendly and the most important –  fluently English speaking. He told us some interesting facts about the customs of the local people. We saw The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes and also Le Cachot -dingy prison, in which the Bernadette’s family was forced to spend a year and The Moulin de Boly- a place where she was born. It was also a beautiful experience when we participated in candlelit procession in  Rosary Basilica.  The atmosphereof this place really impressed all of my family. Architecture of the church is stunning indeed and I could just stand and gaze at the marvelous building. As we walked inside I felt goose pimples on my skin. I definitely recommend everyone to visit this amazing place.

The best way to travel around this small, lovely city is public transport. Tickets are not really expensive –   €1.20 (one way)  / €2.20 (return). However, if you travel in bigger group or as a family it’s better to call a taxi. The cost will be around 10 euros, which gives you 2,5 euro per person and privacy. It includes a car as well for your use only ( and a driver!). You can also take a walk– it’s usually around 10 minutes walking from each point/ attraction so it is not trying at all. Keep in mind – it’s not London, but small village in the suburbs of Tarbes city. Thank to the fresh air of the area you can feel there totally relaxed and enjoy the magnificence of the place!
